Without diversity, there is no real innovation

Think-thinking-thoughts.

Many years ago, I was challenged to map out and list all my news and media sources – every newspaper, magazine, TV and radio show, newsletter, and podcast I had consumed over the past week. It was staggering to see how narrow my perspectives were, and how often my view of the world was simply echoed back to me by like-minded people and media. An absolutely devastating insight for someone like me, who had always considered myself open-minded and curious. It showed just how difficult it is to truly gain new perspectives without real interactions and conversations.

Recently, I attended Women In Tech Sweden, and one of the key themes was how diverse minds are a catalyst for tech innovation. At BARBRO, we aim to foster a culture of creative innovation, and one of our core principles is to bring in diverse perspectives throughout the creative process. But to make that happen, you really need to tear down the walls between creative and client, between roles and functions. We want our studio to be a space for diverse minds – a place where real, honest discussions and curiosity about one another lead the way. Creative innovation is nothing without diversity.
